After a long winter in New England, you better believe I'm looking for somewhere HOT to vacay. The hubby had one week off between 2nd and 3rd year or medical school in May, so it was the perfect time to get away.
Over the past couple of years, I had seen a ton of my friends' pictures from vacations to Puerto Rico, so I decided to check it out for myself. I was psyched to discover that the plane tickets from Boston to Puerto Rico were cheaper than a flight for me to go back home (to St. Louis) for a weekend. Combine that with the husband's Spanish skills and it was a no brainer.
We decided to stay in Old San Juan and chose Hotel Casablanca, a funky, small bed-and-breakfast-type hotel. They played Casablanca on repeat in the hotel lobby and also had rooftop tubs, which were awesome.

I couldn't get enough of all the buildings in Old San Juan! They were all so colorful and pretty.
At the time of our vacation, we were training for the Younkin Half Marathon (aka our own made up half marathon, which has been postponed until further notice), and our 6 mile run was scheduled for the first Saturday in PR.
I highly recommend NOT attempting to run 6 miles in 90 degree weather, when you haven't run that far in months and you haven't felt 90 degree weather in at least 9 months.
At least we had a nice view on our route...
And of course I was pumped to see this outdoor fitness class!

And outdoor fitness equipment - impressed!
Brunch should always follow a good workout. Actually, brunch should just always happen :) This restaurant, Waffle-Era was A-MAZING! We went twice. They had savory & sweet waffles!
Prosciutto, goat cheese, tomatoes - yum!
Yogurt, strawberries, bananas, honey - double yum!

The next day we toned down the workout with a 3 mile run. We discovered this awesome path, right along the water, complete with cats!
And then lots more food and no more working out the whole time, oops :)
This restaurant was SO cool. It was like eating inside of Anthropologie.
Chocolate for breakfast at Casa Cortes.
And some final favorite photos from the trip!
Good night Puerto Rico. I will definitely be seeing you again.
